Cambodia Angkor Wat

Today we went to Angkor Wat at 5:30 in the morning to watch the sunrise behind the Angkor Wat Temple. It was a really pretty sunrise and there were a ton of people there to watch it! Angkor Wat is the most popular temple in Cambodia and it is also the most popular largest religious moment in Asia (in the world actually). Almost everyone knows about this temple.
This temple was first a Hindu temple and then it became a Buddhist temple. The person who built this temple was Khmer King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century. This temple is a symbol for Cambodia, the temple has even appeared on Cambodia's national flag.

Angkor Wat means "temple city" or "city of temples" in Khmer. Angkor means "city" and Wat means "temple grounds." The temple is right outside of the city of Siem Reap.

At the Angkor Wat temple we saw tons of monkeys. They were cute, but if you got near them they were not as cute as someone expected. My friend gave one monkey a banana and they kept trying to come back for more. The little monkey even jumped on her backpack because it smelled her bananas in her backpack. It also took her phone because he thought it was probably food for a second (the monkey dropped it five feet later when he found out what it was). The big monkey stole my other friends apple from her backpack, (she didn't even notice she was standing next to a monkey) but the monkey stole it from her side pocket. He ate the whole inside of the apple, threw the skin out and gave the skin to the little monkey because he didn't like it...hahaha
When we got to close to one too, when we were trying to take a picture or something the monkeys got mad and showed there teeth. There were so many people around them and they were not liking it.

This is another part of the temple, this whole temple ground was made of stones that looked like faces. It was really cool to see, I wish we would have had a tour guide on this trip to know what everything meant.

This was the last temple we went to before we left and it was the part that a lot of people see in a picture with the tree growing down a building. A lot of the trees looked really cool here, I think this one was the best out of all of them. It looks intense!

It was a fun day! It was also Lindsley's birthday! Checked another country and activity off my bucket list! :P
